The unchanging sea and the ever-shifting beach sand can only offer so much. The fairs of Goa, on the other hand, offer a familiar novelty. At any given time, there is one of these somewhere in the areas of Margao, Panjim, Old Goa, or Mapusa.

Everywhere the ferris wheel goes, it has something new to offer, something new to show.

Merry go rounds have always held a certain facination – maybe because I first read about them in an Archie’s comic before I seeing one for real.

Unline a cafe or a restaurant, you don’t need to pay to enter the area. There is space for everyone here. Perhaps I am comparing apples and oranges here. Why compare at all though?

Sometimes it feels like the city center spends half its time setting up for a fair and the other half in packing it away to make way for yet another one.
With the beaches catering more and more to the visiting tourist than the local who is here to stay, the fair is one of the places that the Goan can still call their own.
